Weekly Review, Week 10

I’ve been fond of the work of Toshio Mori, because of the style of his works and how it could affect the readers. The work of Mori is consist of small conversation and most of the time it was the taught of the narrator. In addition to this, Mori uses his culture of being a Japanese and put a touch of Japanese in his story. One example of Mori’s story is “ The Woman Who Makes Swell Doughnuts ”, this story gets my attention due to the idea of how the author focuses on the idea of silence, there are little conversations and most of the time it was the narrators thought that we are reading. Furthermore, the story gives the reader the idea of the importance of silence, indeed the story was simple but yet the lesson and the meaning it obtains was really wonderful. The thought of knowing that silence was indeed the greatest symphony really emphasizes the idea of us, people, should know how to be part of a silent world in order to obtain peace and happy life. We should know how to separate o...

Growth Mindset, Week 10

Motto: Silence is the greatest symphony. This motto is important for me and I think for everyone else. We as a person tends to forget the idea of relaxation, the idea of resting and separating ourselves to the big noise of the outside world. For me, silence is the greatest symphony because it allows us to become a part of nothingness, the idea of being away for some times in order to become who we really are. Silence allows us to become someone in a place where noise is none.

Toshio Mori Born in Oakland and son of both immigrant parents The first American Writer of Japanese Ancestry A writes stories about Japanese-American ancestry The Woman Who Makes Swell Doughnuts Focuses on silence The narrator of the story does not speak a lot but rather say what is in his mind. The silence does not depict the idea of boredom but somehow it gives the reader the idea of relaxation, growth, and peace. The story somehow could be incorporated on our daily lives, in which we forget the feeling of being in silence. The story states that “Silence does not bother her. She says silence is the most beautiful symphony…” which people forgot, having a time of silence could help a person relax from the noises produced by the outside world. The Eggs of the World A type of story that could be considered idiomatic The story has given the reader something to think about and when we understand we realized that Sessue Matoi is correct, we are all an egg. Reading Notes Week 8 Part A

Anonymous Chinese Immigrants The first poem speaks on the journeys of travelers. It refers to the hundred poems on the wall as their messages left behind. It speaks about life and all its value but how one is to know their future or what is to come. It questions why people complain when they are detained because years ago, those who were detained may the biggest heroes. I assume they poem is speaking about immigration and how they fought their way through all obstacles and made the best of it for themselves.  The second poem speaks about time. By the sounds of it, they aren’t old but time has gone by quickly. It states that time and life is the only thing that can’t be taken or detained. It’s motto: to live life without questioning. The third poem is a bit dark. It seems to talk about death. It has a very bitter and even angry tone. The mention of hell means that man was not a good man.  The fourth poem speaks within the new year. It explains the decoration an...
